A chara, - we welcome your comment (Editorial, September 29th) regarding the establishment of an appropriate and inclusive consultative process for the Irish community. We endorse the call for the establishment of realistic, inclusive consultation mechanisms for the Irish community abroad. This in essence must include a representative voice in the Oireachtas.
We applaud your acknowledgement that the material resources available to the Irish community initiatives abroad are seriously inadequate - especially in Britain. While we are pleased that the concerns and views of the Irish diaspora should be acknowledged and address by the Irish Government and institutional Ireland, may I add that the media in Ireland need to reconsider their coverage of Irish community concerns abroad. -Is mise,
