Madam, – Colin Acton suggests (November 13th) that all households be given instructions on how to use three-lane highways. What’s the point? All households received the rules of the road a couple of years ago, but few have read the new rule, that you may drive on the hard shoulder to allow traffic to pass you.
I drive the N7 each week. It is clear that many road users have never read this rule. Lines of vehicles pile up behind dogged drivers who refuse to use the hard shoulder. And then frustrated boy racers put our lives at risk, trying to pass them. – Yours, etc,
