Sir, - It is devastating to note that there is no specific increase in the Budget for children of social welfare recipients and only a 34p-a-week increase in child benefit. And this princely sum will be awarded from next September - almost a year away.
Have our policy makers not yet realised that Irish children experience the second highest level of poverty among children in Europe?
