Still waiting for public transport

Madam, – Having recently returned from living in Australia, I was saddened to see that the state of our public transport system remains unchanged.

One day, I waited 35 minutes in the perishing cold for a bus scheduled to come every 10 minutes. While discussing my frustration with a fellow lady-in-waiting at the bus stop, she informed me that, as a regular user of the route, these kinds of delays are ones she has come to expect and consequently get used to.

Citizens of all areas have a right to efficient and reliable public transport. Cities I have visited, many of which are less developed, less established, less populated and more spread out, have managed to provide this to their inhabitants. Surely we can too? – Yours, etc,
