Sir, - When we published our recent leaflet entitled "Unmarried Parents, Not Just a Single Issue", which addresses some of the myths which abound regarding unmarried parents (particularly mothers), we wondered if the stigma continued to be as bad as we feared.
From letters you have published recently it seems that unmarried women and their children still continue to suffer humiliation and prejudice in Irish society and it is every bit as bad as we feared.
Unmarried families need our support, not our condemnation, our encouragement, not our ignorance, to be valued and not isolated. - Yours, etc.,
