Sir, - It is interesting to note the Government's defence of its proposed £208 million sports stadium, particularly the comments of my fellow county-man, Sports Minister Dr James McDaid, that "it's a modest investment that we can well afford."

I wonder, then, if the Minister is aware that on the same day as he made the announcement children attending our local primary school were asked to pay for PE tuition, even though it is on the school curriculum. Our town is officially designated by the Government as an "area of social and economic deprivation", so many parents who will not want their children to miss out will find it extremely difficult to find the money to pay for this important activity.

I wonder just whose future our Government is investing our taxes in - Yours, etc., Mary Nolan,
