Sir, - St Patrick's Day and its parades are a symbol of Irish identity in New York. In Limerick last Saturday week, however, ignorant, drunken louts paraded in groups, assuming the freedom of the city and roaring obscenities, watched over from a distance by shaven-headed, muscular bouncers.
A visitor could be forgiven for thinking that St Patrick go rid of policemen as well as snakes. - Yours, etc.,
B. Newman, Greenfields, Limerick.
