Sir, - Many thanks to Chris Heaney for drawing attention in his restaurant review (Magazine, September 15th) to the cavalier attitude of some restaurants to the providing of a non-smoking area.
As Mr Heaney rightly points out, this is not up to the discretion of the management. There is a law stating that 50 per cent of the space in all restaurants must be designated non-smoking. Or is that law just one more that no one has the time or the inclination to enforce? - Yours, etc.,
