A chara, In The Irish Times (January 9th) you carry SDLP allegations, dismissed by the chief electoral officer, that Sinn Fein is involved in electoral illegalities - vote stealing.
The article omitted to point out the fact that it was the SDLP MP, Joe Hendron, who was revealed in the 1992 election to have been involved in illegal electoral practices; some of these the SDLP admitted to in court.
I also take great exception to Alex Attwood's claim that electoral officers collecting forms in west Belfast can find it "difficult". Again no reports of intimidation or "difficulties" have been expressed by these staff, but yet the SDLP demonises a whole community. - Is mise le meas.
