Madam, - Will this false message ever stop going out? Fiona O'Malley TD was pushing it again (June 7th) - viz that condoms are the answer to the spread of STDs.
This is both immoral and irresponsible. Immoral, because it encourages our young people to go down the road of promiscuity. Irresponsible, because free availability of condoms has been shown everywhere to increase unwanted pregnancies, abortion and STDs.
I give a quote from C.M. Roland, editor of the journal of the American Chemical Society devoted to the science and technology of rubber. He is a research scientist in this field. He writes: "I find absurd the notion that condoms allow one to safely engage in sexual relations with HIV carriers. Their promotion for that purpose is dangerous and irresponsible." That is plain enough.
It is doubly sad that this propaganda comes from a woman. Women should be the guardians of purity of the young. - Is mise,
