Madam, - I am delighted to see that Pádraig Cribben, chief executive of the Vintners' Federation of Ireland, thinks that alcohol "needs to be sold under controlled conditions" (Feb 9th). I would agree with him wholeheartedly.
Does this mean that he is going to have a word with his publicans and implement better regulations so that alcohol is refused to those under 18 and to those who are already inebriated when they enter a public house?
Will he also be asking his publicans to refuse to serve more alcohol to those who have "had enough to drink"?
