Room at the Áras

Sir, – Some of your readers may be unaware that Áras an Uachtaráin has 95 rooms, many of them undoubtedly unused.

At the same time, we have a national housing emergency with children recently reduced to sleeping overnight in a Dublin Garda station.

With a presidential election campaign about to get under way, it would be a wonderfully imaginative gesture if the candidates were to pledge to accommodate some of the homeless in the Áras, when elected. – Yours, etc,
