Sir, - I was concerned to see inaccuracies perpetuated in your leader (March 15th) concerning Ms Roisin McAliskey and the conditions in which she is held.
Ms McAliskey has not been denied normal pre natal facilities. Indeed she has seen both qualified midwives from within Holloway and consultants from a local hospital on regular occasions. She is able to have physical contact with her partner on visits and she is also able to mix with other prisoners every day.
The reduction in the level of security surrounding Ms McAliskey was not made because of allegations of harsh treatment. It was made after an objective assessment of the risk posed.
