Sir, – Congratulations to Frank McDonald and Olivia Kelly for their creative and “outside the box” thinking on making Dublin better (Reinventing Dublin series). I wonder how many of their excellent ideas will be initiated over the next 12 months?

Earlier this year I wrote to Jimmy Deenihan, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht for an update regarding the proposal to return the Bank of Ireland building, College Green to the State, and used for tourism purposes . Minister Deenihan replied, advising that the project was “proving difficult” . It appears that the bank want to hold onto it. Why? To sit inside, and count money? May I remind all parties involved that this building is now owned by the people? Please get them out , and get on with making Dublin better. Finally, Frank McDonald, a true Dub, for Mayor. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Your article on reinventing transport was very informative, except for one point, the estimated cost of Dart Underground at €1.2 billion is way off. Multiply that number by five and that would be a more accurate figure. The new underground subway line in New York City is costing $15 billion. Dublin is best suited to affordable Luas light rail lines in my opinion. – Yours, etc,
