Sir, – William Lohan’s helpful explanation of the reasoning behind the US senate electoral system (December 3rd) might point to a possible reform of our own Upper House.
If each county had two senators elected on a universal franchise to Seanad Éireann, we could redress the urban/rural balance and, in conjunction with other changes, encourage future development of the regions beyond Dublin. – Yours, etc,
