Sir, - I read with concern that the Irish Real Tennis Association is creating further difficulties to the plans for the National Concert Hall to acquire a second music space.

Although planning permission has been granted to the OPW on behalf of the National Concert Hall, which was subsequently upheld by An Bord Pleanala, the Irish Real Tennis Association has now appealed this decision to the High Court, on the grounds that Lord Iveagh intended the building to be used only as a royal tennis court.

Meanwhile, the National Concert Hall must continue to its chamber music concerts in the John Field Room, which is really a foyer and bar, and not really suitable for the performance of music, or for the holding of all the events in its Education and Outreach programme. - Yours, etc.,

Maurice Flynn, Vice-chairman, Music Association of Ireland, South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2.
