Sir, - Thanks to Kathryn Holmquist for putting words on the vague sense of unease I have felt since reading of the launch of Little Girl The Lavinia Kerwick Story. There is no doubt that Lavinia Kerwick has suffered horrendously, both during her ordeal and ever since. But however valid her personal response has been, surely it is one that should not be encouraged?
As Ms Holmquist points out, there are many victims of rape who have chosen not to define themselves in terms of their experience. These are the real heroines. It is their stories that "every mother or father should insist on their teenage daughter reading". - Yours, etc,
Carrick Road,
Dundalk.
