Madam, - It is perhaps stretching matters a bit to ask for a correction after 57 years. However, in the "Irish Times Oddities" column of September 22nd, in an item dealing with the case of a man who swallowed a variety of bicycle parts, the name of the surgeon who successfully removed the offending items is given as "Dr GIC McMullan".
This should have read Dr JC McMullin - my father. - Yours, etc,
