Sir - We are all aware of An Post's commitment to next-day delivery. My post is delivered late afternoon and on Monday I was waiting for an important letter which I was assured had been posted on Friday. At 3 p.m. I telephoned An Post's Customer Care Centre to ask why the delivery in this Dublin suburb was so late. I was referred to my local sorting office. I duly telephoned the sorting office and spoke to a very pleasant man who informed me that there would be no delivery on Monday and that delivery on Tuesday could not be guaranteed. He explained that he was "down seven men and no-one to cover". He did however check and advise me that I had post and could collect it direct from the sorting office.
Where exactly does this leave An Post's commitment to next-day delivery? - Yours, etc.,
