Sir, In common with your NUMBY correspondent ("not under my back yard"), I have learned that every truck, lorry and heavy goods vehicle in Ireland, north, south, east and west, will be rerouted to sit outside my back yard with engines throbbing, to await entry into the mouth of the port tunnel.
This tunnel mouth is to be sited a few yards away, from where it will spew its toxic emissions, gathered along the tunnel's length, over me and my neighbourhood. Imagine the delights of summer sunbathing and birdsong in that scenario!
I hereby declare myself a NOMBY - "Not Outside My Back Yard". - Yours, etc.,
Santry, Dublin 9.
