Pilgrimage Anniversary

Sir, - Some of your readers may have participated in the first-ever Dublin Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes in August 1949

Sir, - Some of your readers may have participated in the first-ever Dublin Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes in August 1949. This year we are marking the 50th anniversary of the pilgrimage and we would like those first pilgrims to be a part of our celebrations. We would be grateful if they could contact the Diocesan Pilgrimage Office at Red House, Clonliffe, Dublin 3 (Telephone 01-837 6820).

This year on 8th August at 3 p.m. Archbishop Desmond Connell will celebrate a special Mass in St Andrew's Church, Westland Row. This will remember the day, exactly 50 years earlier, when the first pilgrims attended Benediction in St Andrew's before taking the train to Dun Laoghaire and departing by boat for France. Everyone involved with the pilgrimage over the years will be welcome.
