Madam, – Marie Murray is perceptive as ever when writing about the demise of the phone-box (HEALTHplus, February 10th). My own warmest memory is of an October morning 40 years ago, calling at 7am from the kiosk in Market Square, Navan to the Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda to learn that my wife had given birth to our first-born - a beautiful girl.
I bawled my eyes out with joy and gratitude and when I stepped out of that kiosk I felt a greater Superman than Clark Kent could ever hope to be. Poor old Clark - with nowhere to hide, he must be in counselling these days. – Yours, etc,
