Pay Rise For Consultants

Sir, - As a member of a multi-disciplinary mental health service I have a few musings:

1. The cost of one consultant equals that of three to four team members from the other professions.

2. The current vacancy rates in the service at present are: consultants 0 per cent; clinical psychologists, speech and language therapists, nurses and child care workers: over 50 per cent.

It is clear to me as well who should have a salary increase to address the recruitment problems. - Yours, etc.,
