Sir, – Of more than general interest, my analysis of The Irish Timesdeaths column of Thursday, January 19th revealed that, of 34 deaths, the average age of nine deceased (six women and three men) was 93 years. No ages were given for the other 25, but in three cases, one was "a wife of over 60 years" and two had great-grandchildren. "Three score years and ten" is obviously an adage of the past.
