Madam, - "An art form of melodious and harmonious combination of notes, peaceful and pleasing to the ear". Such is the Collins Dictionary definition of the word "music".

I watched an hour of RTÉ2's four-hour programme on U2 performances. In almost all their numbers they used at most three chords accompanied by incessant electronic drumming.

Where was the melody, the harmony? And where was the pleasure and accord? I have heard more "music" from a wardful of patients with intestinal obstruction.
