Sir, - Having sampled the new RTE radio schedules, it seems that the new policy from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. is to play classical and popular records alternately. (Hitherto, there was 20 minutes of classical records prior to the 7 a.m. news.) The result is a mishmash mess of musical mismanagement which leaves me bemused by the inability of RTE to gauge the feelings of classical music lovers.
While stations in Britain and Germany supply classical music round the clock, it is unavailable in Ireland between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Not even from the station which purports to support the arts.
One less listener for RTE, and very likely many more than one. - Yours, etc.,
