March against legalising abortion

A chara, – Nora Bennis seems oblivious to the contradiction in her own letter (July 6th)

A chara, – Nora Bennis seems oblivious to the contradiction in her own letter (July 6th). In one paragraph she states that the Constitution belongs to the people of Ireland and not to the Dáil or Europe. Yet in the next paragraph she, along with Ireland United for Life, calls on the Taoiseach not to legislate for abortion. Surely this a matter for the people of Ireland to decide through the process of a referendum?

I doubt that abortion would be legalised if it went to the polls, but if there was cause for a referendum on this matter then neither myself, Ms Bennis, or any other organisation have the right to deny Irish citizens their constitutional entitlement to this democratic process. – Is mise,
