Madam, - When will Dublin's planning authorities realise that constructing ever more high-rise apartment blocks without adequate provision for both car parking and outdoor sports does not add up?

With local authorities committed to denser housing populations, simultaneous and proportionate increases in car parking spaces and outdoor sports facilities should be provided.

For example, how many publicly owned football pitches, tennis and basketball courts are there between the Royal and Grand Canals? Will these numbers increase when all of the city's proposed apartment blocks are built?

Will residents have to travel to play sports, worsening road congestion even further, or will they simply do without, to the detriment of our communities? - Yours, etc,
