Sir, - Two weeks ago, Trinity College conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Music on the jazz guitarist Louis Stewart.
To the best of my knowledge this was not mentioned in your columns. It would be a pity, if such a significant event were allowed to go unnoticed. This is the first time that a musician in Louis's field has been honoured in this manner. The event brings honour not only to a distinguished artist but also to Trinity College for its recognition of a form of music that commands recognition as an important contemporary art form.
