Madam, – The Irish Missionary Union condemns in the strongest terms, the killing of 15-year-old Toyosi Shittabey in Tyrellstown, Dublin on April 2nd. We offer our heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends. We applaud the dignity and courage of Toyosi’s parents in their appeal for “no revenge”.

Members of the Irish Missionary Union have 1,199 people working in Africa today, all of whom are deeply concerned about Africa and its people. Aware of the richness of our experience of Africa we encourage all work being done to preserve the already good relations that exists between Irish people, Africans and other immigrants living in Ireland.

We call on the Minister responsible for integration and the Garda Síochána to investigate this matter thoroughly and fairly, to ensure that true justice is carried out. – Yours, etc,

Fr EAMON AYLWARD, SS CC.
