Madam, - David M. Abrahamson suggests (November 14th) that were I to persuade "the Hamas leadership. . . to stop the indiscriminate rocket attacks on Israel" I "might actually make a worthwhile contribution to ending the tragic cycle of violence in the Middle East". I hereby call upon Mr Abrahamson to persuade the Israeli government to end its illegal policies of occupation, settlement-building, territorial annexation, detention without trial, collective punishment, torture and murder, and to dismantle its apartheid wall and its massive clandestine nuclear arsenal.
When he has thereby uprooted the primary cause of the "tragic cycle of violence" he mentions, I'm sure we can do business. - Yours, etc,
RAYMOND DEANE, Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Dublin 2.
