Is there a new face of atheism?

Sir, – The response to this question is, alas and alack, another outing for the lads. Patriarchal religions and the domination of atheist discourse by men is a problem for humanity, but especially for the female half of the population.

As a humanist and atheist woman I find it depressing that so little has changed in the past few decades as the god and anti-god squad continues to be so male dominated as women avoid these “boys clubs”.

You would get a very different take on the world from the gospel according to Sheela-na-Gig or from Mary Robinson who spoke so eloquently and forcefully on the exclusion of women from political, cultural and economic power at the Freethinking Festival this week. – Yours, etc,
