Madam, – Dr Garlaschelli of Pavia University need not have gone to all that trouble to prove the shroud of Turin a fake (World News, October 6th). The cloth contains imprints of the supposed face of Jesus and the supposed back of his head – but they touch! There is no imprint of the top of his head, which should separate the front and the back by about eight inches. Why is something so blindingly obvious so rarely mentioned in these endless discussions? Could it be that they derail the gravy-train even before it leaves the depot? – Yours, etc,
