Sir, - It seems not to occur to Vincent Browne (Opinion, August 22nd), that the sight of Sinn FΘin spokespersons pontificating on human rights abuses is about as sickening as it can get for an awful lot of people North and South.

Has Browne even an inkling of how offensive he was in giving more weight on the issue of policing to the opinions of people drenched in blood, than to the Irish Government, the Catholic bishops and the SDLP, combined.

This, on the same day that three known IRA men (according to Garda) were being charged with training drug-dealing Colombian terrorists in the art of bomb-making. In return for what one can only guess at.

But it certainly puts the Provos' campaign against alleged drug dealers in a new light. Not so much a purging of anti-social elements, more a wiping out of the opposition, it would seem.
