Sir, - Isn't it about time that halting sites, like every other development in the country, be subject to the planning laws? Why should a county council, which has, for 20 years, consistently refused planning permission for dwellings on Blackglen Road, Sandyford, on the grounds that any extra traffic turning on the narrow and sub standard road would "endanger public safety", now be allowed to develop a 40 caravan transient halting site on, the very same road?

By its very nature a transient halting site of 40 caravans will dramatically increase the amount of traffic turning on the road.

What happened to concerns for "public safety"? Yours etc
