Madam, – Thank you for the two reports in your March 30th edition, which succinctly sum up our sordid State. On page 10 we learn that the brave workers of Fukushima are “offered huge sums”, the equivalent of up to €862 per day, to fight radioactive fallout. And on page 8, we find this is almost exactly the daily fee paid to junior barristers who tackled the toxic fallout of our golden circle at the Moriarty tribunal.

It is time to adopt a policy – let’s call it the Fukushima Rule – to ensure that nobody employed by or on behalf of the State is paid more than a Japanese firefighter. Let’s start with Nama and our banks. – Yours, etc,
