Sir, - It must take a peculiarly fragmented state of mind - apparently collectively possessed by Dublin City councillors - to be able to give the freedom of Dublin to such opposites as Ms Aung San Suu Kyi and the members of U2 and its entourage. Perhaps they could explain how it is possible to give equal recognition to dignity, integrity and moral courage on the one hand, and vacuous, populist superficiality on the other.
