EXPENSIVE IRELAND

Madam, - We were recently on our family holiday (English husband, Irish wife and two young children) in Rosslare and, having enjoyed a delicious meal at Kelly's Hotel, were astounded to be charged €16 for a one-mile ride back to our holiday home.

The same journey had been taken by other family members on several occasions in the same week at a charge of between €4 and €5. On protesting at the fee, we were informed we had to pay for the driver to come from Wexford to Rosslare to pick us up!

Additionally, on attempting to have a family lunch at a well-known pub/eatery, renowned for its lobster and seafood chowder, we were met with an extremely frosty reception after requesting seating for our young family. It was obvious we were not welcome!

Come on, guys! Is this how to help Ireland's "struggling tourist" industry?
