Sir, - I am writing in response to Padraig O Ciardha's letter (April 7th) concerning English on TnaG. In his letter he was asking why there were so many English language programmes on TnaG, "an Irish-language TV station". The answer was that the station had insufficient funds.
Why doesn't the station hold a young scriptwriters' competition in which the best few entries would be produced by TnaG and shown at prime time on that channel? It could charge a small fee to all entrants which would soon mount up and help pay for production costs.
This would let the station show an Irish-speaking programme at less of a cost, advertise the channel, and encourage Irish writers of the future. - Yours, etc., Robin Adams,
Main Street, Malahide, Co Dublin.
