Sir, - We hear a lot these days about the traffic congestion in Dublin caused by the amount of cars. Which as our economy continues to improve can only become worse. It must be doubtful if the light rail transport would solve the problem, as motorists would be reluctant to give up their cars.
I do not know how many cars which come into the City have only one person, but the percentage must be very high. To allow only cars which are full into the city would reduce the number very considerably. This restriction should operate only during peak hours. In California cars which are full are allowed to filter on to the freeways, while cars which are not full have to wait for the green light. - Yours etc.,
