Sir, - How nauseating it is for us here in Ireland to be hearing continually about the Third World. I and some of my friends have to live on the streets because we can't afford accommodation in this so-called Celtic Tiger of ours. Having staff collecting signatures in Jubilee 2000 to cancel Third world Debt to give more to the despots that rule many of those countries. Honduras is stated as having $4.5 billion debt. But this fat, so-called Celtic Tiger has a debt of $26 billion. We don't see Trocaire or Jubilee 2000 collecting for Ireland's debt. Oh no, it's always the stranger, but do damn all for our own poor, only pay lip service to them as usual. Have we to be the Good Samaritan to any and every country of the world that has either a man-made or natural-made problem while ignoring problems at home? Such hypocrisy. - Yours, etc., Johnny Andrews,
Gardiner Street, Dublin 2.
