Sir, - The Dublin Bus strike highlights yet again the Government's lack of concern for the welfare of people at the bottom of this two-tier society. This is, after all, "public transport" - therefore the Government has a responsibility to ensure this service is provided. If the Army needs to be called in to do it, then so be it. It is the marginalised who are suffering - those who don't have a car, pensioners, unemployed people, students. For some people buses are their only means of transport, their only way of getting out and about. Unions and Dublin Bus management aside, the Government has failed to ensure a public service is provided. - Yours, etc.,
