Madam, - The ongoing dispute by Dublin Bus drivers union at the Harristown depot highlights the urgent need to open up the Dublin bus market to competition. It is beyond comprehension that 60,000 commuters do not have an alternative bus company to use on the routes affected by the strike.

People are not interested in what bus company gets them from A to B. People care about getting to their destination safely and on time. Competition in the bus market would give the commuter more choice.

It would also ensure that bus operators put commuters' interests first. - Yours, etc,
