Madam, – The unofficial strike action this week by Dublin Bus drivers in the Harristown and other depots was unwarranted.
These drivers have a State job with solid pensions and all they were asked to do was make reasonable changes to their working hours, as required in a recession.
They caused further dismay for those in the workforce struggling to keep their jobs and businesses alive and profitable. The cost to the Irish economy by the delays to commuters and transport will probably run into millions. It was the last thing we needed.
I hope Dublin Bus management show some courage and disciplines the drivers responsible. There are plenty of people out there who are more deserving of these valuable jobs. – Yours, etc,
COLM J L LAUDER,
Clontarf,
Dublin 3.
