Sir, - It is disgraceful that those who have agreed to provide special taxis for wheelchair users, and to whom special licences have been issued, have not honoured their promise. We, who wish to use the taxi services, are paying the fare demanded, as any other tax user has to. We are not asking that the service be provided free of charge.
At present I have two documented complaints against taxi companies in Dublin and I hope that I can compile a "hard evidence" case for submission to the Irish Council for People with Disabilities, asking it to approach the Minister for the Environment and Dublin City Corporation, which issues such licences. I ask people with similar complaints to write to me with their stories. This will enable me to complete the file. - Yours, etc.
