Madam, - An article by Frank McDonald in your Weekend Review of January 6th refers to the planning application to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council for the first phase of the development of Dún Laoghaire golf course by Cosgrave Developments. Mr McDonald writes that "the 230 houses and 626 apartments in the first phase of the Cosgrave scheme include 'no social and affordable homes'".

I wish to advise that prior to the submission of the planning application in respect of this development, agreement in principle was reached between the council and Cosgrave Developments in relation to compliance with Part V of the Planning and Development Acts 2000-2002. Details of how the applicant proposes to comply with Part V were submitted with the planning application on July 6th, 2006.

This information is available on the planning application file, register reference D06A/0927, which is available for inspection at the Planning Department, County Hall, Marine Road, Dún Laoghaire, between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday, or on the website www.dlrcoco.ie.

For the information of your readers, the proposal provides for 85 social units and 86 affordable units on site and the location of these units in the development is shown on drawing nos. PL 207, PL 208, PL 215, PL 216 and PL 217 which drawings are available for inspection as referred to above.
