Sir, - May I congratulate your photographer Frank Miller for his most colourful picture (Irish Times, March 9th) of Victoria Mohammad (5) from Nigeria at the launch in Dublin Castle of the African Refugee Network Needs Analysis report.
During my travels to African, Asian and South American countries, I love to see how colour and life is celebrated in the everyday dress. By comparison the European and Irish attire is most fitting to the drab mourning for a past life which was never fully lived. And indeed, as reported, the racist attitudes of our community pillars, such as many a property owner and some State employees, underline a cultural disability in cherishing difference and enjoying finer gifts during our short stay on our small planet. - Yours, etc.
