Sir, - I see that Aer Lingus workers are already digging in their heels in order to prevent 2,500 job cuts at the company. Can they not see that these redundancies are necessary to ensure the future of the airline that employs them?
I am sure most readers would join me in hoping that a new, streamlined, and profitable Aer Lingus can emerge from the shadow of recent events, the better to line the pockets of Sir Anthony O'Reilly, Denis O'Brien, or whichever Irish "entrepreneur" picks up our national airline on the cheap after privatisation. - Yours, etc.,
Tom Farrell, Norseman Place, Dublin 7.
