Complaints about Halloween

Sir, – I listened all summer to the complaints about the cost of school books and uniforms.

In primary schools these uniforms are worn for more than 180 days in the year.

I have waited for the complaints about all the Halloween merchandise in the shops, elaborate costumes and masks are to be worn for one night only, but haven’t heard anyone complaining.

And yet the difficulties people have paying utility bills and mortgages are aired daily.

So, who can afford these Halloween goods in this recession? – Yours, etc,
