Sir, – As the Government is currently deducting over €300 each month from the old age pension agreed with my former employer, and has so far deducted a total of €3,670, I would like to make a goodwill gesture for 2012. I would have no objection whatsoever to the Government using the money deducted to pay for the household charge. I would encourage other OAPs in a similar position to make the same generous gesture. – Yours, etc,
